以万豪酒店为例，他的设计理念结合所在城市的地域文化，不断寻求传承与突破，让建筑在瞬间绽放光芒，牵引着中国室内设计走向辉煌。同样是万豪酒店，位于厦门和遵义的酒店却在刘波的演绎下，有着截然不同的风格。
比如海口万豪酒店，刘波采用有别于其他东南亚风格的海口酒店的中国风，使海口万豪酒店成为海口海边一道独特的风景。這間滿載新設計概念的頂級酒店將海口西海岸海天一色的無邊景致與熱帶風格園林及386間外廊全海景客房及別墅，海口最大的生態泳池等得天獨厚的各種元素共冶一爐，以獨特的飛簷天際線，雋永的東方設計風格成為城市的亮麗新景。
